A CHRISTIAN NATION...."BY DESIGN"

Elder James D. Bradley

Many times while discussing politics with those of the Liberal persuasion, I will make the statement that this is a Christian nation, or more correctly, it WAS a Christian nation at it’s inception and during the period that our Constitution and Bill of Rights were instituted even up until the early part of the 20th century.

This claim, (which I will prove) usually is rejected by the listener because they have been taught from an early age that our country was to be a " melting pot" or "multi-cultural nation" in our public school system. I will address that issue in Part 3 of this series. They will immediately deny any   such connection to our founding fathers intent. Even some of my dearest friends will, in effect, call me a liar upon hearing such claims.

Some of those being almost scholarly in their understanding of history and politics. Those are the ones who I fail to understand. They are too gifted with reason and knowledge to reject such information unless they have never heard of these proofs that I will bring to the table as evidence of my claim.

I realize that for some of them this is the first time they have had their beliefs concerning these matters challenged with such overwhelming evidences. Having gone thru the same pains of having my own beliefs challenged from time to time, I understand the pain and anquish that one goes through during these times, but I also know how strong my faith has become because I was truly seeking the truth, not just vindication of my beliefs.

It is my genuine prayer that all those who disagree with my view, will desire the truth so much that they will be able to set aside the anger that usually comes with such an experience, and understand that I do not bring these proofs in an antaganistic manner, but in all sincerety, It is to them that I humbly present the following and ask them to look at these evidences with all their reason and knowledge.

CONSIDER THESE PROOFS :

FICTION: Based on the wording of the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights, Liberals would have us to believe that the founding fathers were adamant that God and Religion be kept out of the public realm, insisting that this was intended to be a "multi-cultural" nation with no shadow of endorsement of any particular religion.

FACT: Christopher Columbus (the founder of America) states in his book, Libro de las profecias (Book of Prophecies) that "it was the Lord who put it into my mind (I could feel His hand upon me) the fact that it would be possible to sail from here to the Indies..." "There is no question that the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit, because he comforted me with rays of marvelous illumination from the Holy Scriptures, a strong and clear testimony from the 44 books of the Old Testament, from the four Gospels, and from the 23 Epistles of the blessed Apostles, encouraging me continually to press forward, and without ceasing for a moment they now encourage me to make haste."

He (Columbus) quotes the Aposles and Isaiah frequently and always gives credit to the Lord for directing and protecting him on his journey. He states: "For the execution of the journey to the Indies I did not make use of intelligence, mathematics or maps. It is simply the fulfillment of what Isaiah had prophesied......No one should fear to undertake any task in the name of our Savior, if it is just and if the intention is purely for His holy service.....I said that some of the prophecies remained yet to be fulfilled. These are great and wonderful things for the Earth, and the signs are that the Lord is hastening the end. The fact that the Gospel must still be preached to so many lands in such a short time, this is what convinces me."

FACT: As they landed on each Island, Columbus had his men erect a large wooden cross: As a token of Jesus Christ our Lord, and in honor of the Christian faith.

FACT: Christopher Columbus’ last words were: "into your hands, Father, I commend my soul."

FACT: Christopher Columbus’ personal logs are filled with evidences aplenty that his mission was a Christian Missionary Journey. Yet the Liberal Establishment has denied this information to the citizens of the United States, by purposely omitting all Christian connections to Columbus and teaching [unethically and immorally] in the public schools that he "accidentally" found the United States while looking for shipping routes for the West Indies. For Columbus stated in his journal that his primary purpose was to : ..." Bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the heathens."
[and]... "bring the Word of God to unknown coastlands."

FACT: There are too many evidences of proof to print here, but any serious student can find them at will, that this was always intended to be a Christian Nation.

FACT: On February 29, 1892 in the United States Supreme Court case #143
US457-458,465- 471,36 L ed 226, Justice Josiah Brewer rendered the courts decision: "Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian"... "We find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth...because of a general recognition of this truth[that we are a Christian nation], the question has seldom been presented to the courts".

note: in this same decision he quotes a New York State Supreme Court ruling in the case of The People v. Ruggles, Chief Justice (Chancellor) Kent said: "The people of this state, in common with the people of this country, profess the general doctrines of Christianity, as the rule of their faith and practice...We are a Christian people, and the morality of the country is deeply engrafted upon Christianity, and not upon the doctrines or worship of those impostors[other religions]."

note: in this same decision he states: in the case of state v. Girard’s Executors, this court ...observed: "It is also said, and truly, that the Christian religion is a part of the common law..." ..."These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation...we find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth."

FACT: The United States Supreme Court in 1931 on case #283 US 605, 625, Justice George Sutherland delivered the court’s decision, (reiterating the court’s decision of 1892) stating: "We are a Christian people... according to one another the equal right of religious freedom, and acknowledge with reverence the duty of obedience to the will of God".

FACT: Alabama Courts 1983, in the case of Jaffre v. Board of School Commissioners of Mobile County, 544F.Supp.1104(S.D.Ala.1983), Judge Brevard Hand quoted from the nineteenth-century United States Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, who succinctly clarified the original meaning of the First Amendment: "The real object of the First Amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance Mohammedanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity, but to exclude all rivalry among
sects [denominations] and to prevent any national ecclesiastical patronage of the national government."

FACT: Arkansas Supreme Court 1905, was quoted by Supreme Court Justice David J. Brewer in his lecture, entitled, "The United States a Christian Nation." The opinion rendered in the case of Shover v. The State, 10 English, 263, included: This system of religion (Christianity) is recognized as constituting a part and parcel of the common law.

FACT: John Adams, 2nd President of the United States on June 28,1813, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson, wrote: "The general principles, on which the Fathers achieved independence, were the only Principles in which that beautiful Assembly of young Gentleman could unite...And what were these general Principles? I answer, the general Principles of Christianity, in which all these Sects were United: And the general Principles of English and American Liberty, in which all those young Men United, and which had United all Parties in America, in Majorities sufficient to assert and Maintain her Independence. Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and as immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane System."

FACT: John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), 6th President of the United States and son of John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States. On July 4, 1821, John Quincy Adams declared: "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this; it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity."

FACT: Those Liberals who deny that we should look at the Constitution and The Bill of Rights "as the Founding Fathers intended," should read and heed the words of the very person that they use [fraudulently] to justify their erroneous beliefs: On June 12,1823, in a letter to Justice William Johnson regarding the meaning to the Constitution, Thomas Jefferson wrote: "On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning maybe squeezed out of the text, or
invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it passed."

CONCLUSION: Here we have, from the lips of the founder of this great nation, Christopher Columbus, as well as the founding fathers, and, even the very person whom the Liberals hold in the highest esteem [as quoted above]. Some of whom were instrumental in the creation of this independent nation, and others who authored this said First Amendment, evidence in support of our position.

This is but a small sampling of the voluminous amount of testimony attesting to the veracity of this writers statement as to the truths everywhere known concerning Christianity and the Founding Fathers. Knowing that the Liberal Estalishment hold themselves the experts
concerning the works of our founding fathers, we must conclude that they have also availed themselves of this evidence.

It seems apparent that they are willing to push the truth into the dark hallways of the past, and forge ahead with the rewriting of history to justify their (political) positions. The truth of the matter is, no matter how repugnant the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to these Liberals, or how it infuriates them that they cannot legitimize their desired order of history, even by intentionally distorting the words of Thomas Jefferson concerning "the wall of separation". History is replete with evidence to the contrary.

Note: Only a return to the truth about this nations beginnings and the return of a righteousness to our people, will bring about the salvation of this nation.
